Pro-Mark's 50th Anniversary Limited Edition Snare Drums. (6.5" X 14" and 5.5" X 14")
|
The idea for this project was initially conceived in Frankfurt Germany at a dinner meeting between Pro-Mark's director of
sales and marketing, Pat Brown and some industry colleagues . After pitching the idea to staff members at Pro-Mark, both
Kevin Radomski (Pro-Mark Director of Artist Relations) and Mark Petrocelli (Domestic Retail Sales) wanted to be involved.
Both Kevin and Mark are talented drummers in their own right and jumped at the chance to help craft the drum of their dreams.
At the recommendation of Pro-Mark Autograph artist Todd Sucherman, Mark contacted Canadian drumsmith Pete Stanbridge of
Stanbridge Drums.
Says Mark Petrocelli, "Part of the thought process was to build a very special drum, similar in effect to a very famous
drum built for Herb Brochstein by the legendary Billy Gladstone."
Pete Stanbridge was intrigued by the project and quickly responded with a prototype. Mark became the point person, working
closely with Pete and Kevin Radomski on each and every detail. Many of the design ideas came directly from e-mails and
phone conversations that involved Pete, Mark and Kevin.

Kevin Radomski observed, "The great thing about working together on this project was that if somebody
did not like something, we were not shy about letting each other know. It has been a give and take team effort.
The friendship and collaboration during this journey has resulted in exactly what we all originally envisioned."
Company president Maury Brochstein noted, "This project has taken well over a year, but we wanted to take our time to
make certain that every detail was perfect! We wanted to create a drum that would celebrate Pro-Mark’s legacy by adding
in all of the ingredients that are used to make our drumsticks, hence the oak, hickory and maple woods. What better way for a
drumstick company to say 'thank you for 50 years' than to make a drum with the same passion that we use to create our drumsticks!"
The drums are very special and extremely limited in number. Only 50 of each size (5.5" X 14" and 6.5" X 14"), are being made.
Brochstein concluded, "To us it is not just a drum; there is personal pride and dedication from all of us poured into each
and every one."

About These Beautiful Drums
Features and benefits
- Available in 5.5" X 14" and 6.5" X 14". Limited production…only 50 of EACH size will be available.
- Each drum is beautifully handcrafted by Master craftsman Pete Stanbridge in Newfoundland, Canada, utilizing Japanese White Oak, American Hickory, and American Maple…the three types of woods used in the making of Pro-Mark drumsticks.
- The main shell is made from Japanese White Oak… the wood that put Pro-Mark in business 50 years ago!
- Each shell is constructed using 92 blocks of wood, formed using a segment shell construction process and lathe turned for incredible strength and amazing tone!
- Using the same segment shell construction process, the famous Pro-Mark stripes are crafted using Walnut with an Oak inlay.
- Precision-cut bearing edges seat and align the head for a perfect union of sound.
- Rock Maple and Pau Ferro finger-jointed hardwood hoops complete the look and sound of the drum. The extra durable hoops provide unique warmth coupled with a definitive rimshot “crack”. This drum responds at all levels of play!
- Each drum has a “High Gloss” instrument lacquer exterior finish for a superior hi-end look.
- Each drum comes equipped with 8 cast, custom-designed Stanbridge Drum Co. tube lugs, finished in high quality 24K gold plate. Because of the rigidity of the hardwood hoops, 8 lugs were chosen instead of 10 for tuning ease. The 8-lug design also allows for the beauty of the drum shell to shine through!
- A gold-plated Pro-Mark 50th Anniversary cast badge is inset into a Hickory frame
- The drums are fitted with a custom printed Pro-Mark 50th Anniversary Remo Renaissance batter head and a custom printed Hazy Ambassador snare side head.
- Puresound 16-strand custom copper snare wires round out the drums’ sound and responsiveness!
- A Dunnett R2 Quick Release throw-off and butt piece featuring a custom Pro-Mark etched handle in 24K gold plated finish is the perfect compliment to this classic piece of workmanship. This feature allows you to remove the snare wires for snare side head changes WITHOUT a drum key!
- The classic retro interior paper tag is individually numbered and hand signed by Pro-Mark founder Herb Brochstein, Pro-Mark President Maury Brochstein and Drumsmith Pete Stanbridge.
Each drum will also be accompanied with the following Pro-Mark 50th Anniversary items:
- Hard-shell drum case with a plush black velvet interior.
- 1 pair of custom, laser engraved commemorative Pro-Mark oak drumsticks with 50th Anniversary logo in a velvet drawstring bag.
- 'Spares Kit' with gold plated drum key, extra tension rods, fasteners, snare straps and tools nestled in a foam lined wooden box.
- Pro-Mark 50th Anniversary embroidered shirt.
- Stanbridge logo wear.
- Signed and numbered Certificate of authenticity.
